In a ballroom competition, there are single entry heats and multi-dance heats. In a single entry heat, you dance one style (for example Waltz) and you are judged only on how well you danced that dance. In a multi-dance heat, you dance several dances in one style and you are judged on how well you did those dances overall. For example: Smooth (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot) or Rhythm (Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing).

In our competition, all of your single entry heats are included with your package. We call our multi-dance heats Scholarship Heats because you can win Scholarship Dollars if you place 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. An amateur dancer is allowed to enter a maximum of 4 Scholarship Heats: Smooth dancing with your teacher, Rhythm dancing with your teacher, Smooth dancing with another amateur, Rhythm dancing with another amateur. Each entry is $50.

NOTE: Youth ages 25 and younger receive scholarships to attend our event for free. All events, parties and entries are included EXCEPT Scholarship Heat Entries. Youth need to pay $50 per entry for these heats. We encourage the youth to take advantage as it is another opportunity to earn scholarship dollars to use for future dance education.
