Our Mission is to raise money for Dancing In The Schools. We provide grants to local schools to pay for professional dance teachers to give students lessons on how to dance. This gives students exposure to arts which they might not otherwise be able to experience.

Dancing

in the Schools

Dancing In The Schools is a partnership between Dancing & Singing with The King™, The Dance Studio of Tupelo and local schools. Dancing & Singing With The King™ and participating schools partner to raise the money needed for dance classes. The Dance Studio of Tupelo provides professional instructors to teach the classes.

At the end of the school year, all eligible, participating children are brought together for a festival to celebrate what they learned that year.

Plantersville Middle School was first to adopt the innovative program that highlights the importance of arts education, and Shannon Elementary School was next. The schools’ principals, Plantersville’s Dr. Lindsay Brett and Shannon’s Pam Moran, have been celebrity dancers in Dancing With The King™. They both have seen improvements in academic and social skills in the students involved in dance.

In the 2022 – 2023 school year classes will be held at Plantersville Middle School, Shannon Elementary School, Verona Elementary School, Lawhon Elementary School and Lawndale Elementary School. Discussions are underway for schools that will come on board in the fall of 2023.

The program is also supported by the Tupelo Elvis™ Fan Club, the Tupelo Ballroom Dance Club, the Carpenter Foundation, the Mississippi Arts Commission, the Elaine Dundy and Roy Turner Endowment for the Arts, the Tupelo Kiwanis Club and private donors.
